Manufacturing

Section C is manufacturing — turning raw materials into finished products. It is a broad sector, with divisions ranging from food and beverages to metals, electronics and machinery. In Latvia the largest are food (10) and wood processing (16), followed by fabricated metal (25) and machinery (28). A few large exporters, especially in wood, earn most of the turnover, while most companies are small and run on thin margins.
