Manufacture of basic metals

Division 24 covers the manufacture of basic metals — iron, steel and ferro-alloys (24.1), steel tubes and pipes (24.2), other first processing of steel (24.3), precious and non-ferrous metals (24.4) and metal casting (24.5). In Latvia this is a small division; integrated steelmaking ended when the large Liepāja steelworks closed, and activity is mainly non-ferrous processing, tubes and casting.
