Transportation and storage

Section H covers transportation and storage. It has five divisions: land and pipeline transport (49), water transport (50), air transport (51), warehousing and support activities (52) and postal and courier activities (53). By company count it is a large sector. A few big rail, port and postal operators sit at the top, while thousands of small hauliers make up the rest. Latvia is a transit country, so the sector is closely tied to freight flows to and from its neighbours.
